What is the Law of Attraction? The Power You Have Had Your Whole Life



If you haven't already heard about the Law of Attraction, you may be have been living under a rock. No worries. That's why you're here! The Law of Attraction has been intriguing people since the popular Book / Movie The Secret came about in 2006. The Law of Attraction has always existed. It's considered one of the Universal Laws. (See my post here on the 7 Universal Laws) And just like the Law of Gravity, the Law of Attraction is ALWAYS working. Whether or not it's working in your favor is COMPLETELY up to you.

So what is the Law of Attraction?

In simple terms, the catch phrase "Karma" is a word that at it's root is the Law of Attraction. If you do good things, good things come back to you. Vice versa, if you do bad things, bad things come back to you. When we analyze a bit more, the Law of Attraction can be described as using the power of your own mind to get the life that you truly want and desire, or not...if you're not careful. If you have a mindset and attitude of happiness and abundance, you will attact more of that into your life. However, if you are always complaining about things and have a mindset that you never have enough, you will attract and relive more of the same.


How do I use the Law of Attraction?

Step 1: Ask

This is accomplished by asking the Universe for what you want. This step can be achieved through telling the Universe out loud or praying. You can also script / write in a journal about your desires. Meditation can also be considered a form of asking. A vision board is another wonderful tool.

Step 2: Believe

Then you must "believe" you already have it (your desire) in your possession. There are many ways to help you "believe" from creative visualization to affirmations. The way the brain works is that it believes anything we tell it. Diving a bit deeper, what we're doing here is utilizing our conscious mind to trick our subconscious mind (where belief systems reside) into believing we have that which we desire.


For example; You could be helplessly single without a partner for quite some time. You may have put in considerable effort to find someone but if you're mindset is not in the right place (keep focusing on how single and lonely you are), your Mr. or Miss Right won't come into your life. This is because by focusing on how single and how un-dateable these people are, your essentially reinforcing your (subconscious) mind that you want more of the same. This in turn resonates in your energy and "vibe" which reflects as "un-dateable" to possible quality suitors. What you need to do is start with affirmations such as "I am loved", "I have loving relationships", "I have many suitors vying for my attention". It's okay if any of these feel wrong as your saying them at first. The more you say them, the more you will be tricking your subconsious mind into believing them. In time, this will lighten your energy and make you more appealing and open to actual suitors! The MOST important thing to remember; say your affirmations in the present tense, not the past or future tense. Saying that you'll have a loving relationship someday tells your subconscious mind it will always be "someday" and not today.

Step 3: Receive

Receive your manifestion. Receiving is considered to be the most difficult part as we tend to push away things unknowingly. I offer this suggestion. When someone offers to buy you a coffee, ALWAYS say yes and Thank you. This is the Universe working through this person to see if you're ready to "receive" what you're asking for. If you say no, you're telling the Universe that you're not ready to receive. Another scenario, if you spot a penny on the ground? ALWAYS pick it up and say Thank you. Once again, the Universe is seeing if you're willing to receive the good it's showing you. It doesn't matter if it's "just a penny". Receive everything graciously and it will be a matter of time before your manifestation arrives.

Understanding the History

Though Quantum Physicists have helped our current generations understand, with some research into the history of the Law of Attraction you'll see that the concept has been taught and spoken about for hundreds, even thousands of years. I'm sure you have heard all the quotes ranging from, "Whether you think you can, or think you can't, either way you're right" ~ Henry Ford "Your imagination is a preview to your life's coming attractions" ~ Albert Einstein "All that we are is a result of what we have thought" ~ Buddha "And all things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believe, you shall receive it" ~ Bible-Matthew 21:22

I could go on for many pages, but you get the point and can see that these men understood the power of the Law of Attraction and how to harness and teach it in their lives. So if you've come to the end of this post and you feel that the Law of Attraction is just some pseudoscience, I challenge you to try it out. Honestly, what have you got to lose? Being a happier person as a result? Would that really be such a bad thing?
