Reiki is a powerful yet greatly misunderstood spiritual and healing art. When one thinks of some of the most influential spiritual facilities, they often think of yoga, acupuncture, or meditation. Few people know about Reiki, and even fewer truly respect its effects on you as both a body and a spirit. In reality, while certainly these other methods (yoga, meditation, and acupuncture) all have tremendous power in healing the body, Reiki is easily just as impressive in healing the mind and clearing the damaging emotional trauma stored within the body.
What is Reiki?
Suppose you've never heard of Reiki or simply never given it enough attention. In that case, Reiki is the art of energetically rebalancing you by way of a trained practitioner's gentle touch and a positive mindset. Invented and developed by Dr. Usui after a profoundly spiritual journey in the early 1900s, Reiki has since spread throughout the world, progressively becoming more refined over the years until the modern era. It has been used to assist thousands and thousands of people suffering from pain, illnesses, diseases, and mental and emotional stress. Reiki, as an art, has many, many different, and tremendous advantages and benefits to you and your overall wellness. In this breakdown, I will go over eight ways implementing Reiki into your life can dramatically improve it.
#8. Promote Harmony & Balance
As I said earlier, acupuncture has long since been acknowledged as a very effective way to restore balance in a person's body. It has been used for hundreds upon hundreds of years to incredible effects and should be acknowledged as such.
That being said, the ultimate goal of any physical or spiritual healing is to do so with as little intrusion as possible. One of the challenges that come with performing acupuncture is that it heals the body by inserting a foreign object into your body and forcing away the blockage or resistance. Again, while I don't want to mislead you into believing acupuncture is not good to have done, I do feel it is crucial that you understand that, while it is favorable, it is not ideal for one's rebalancing if given an option.
Reiki is different from this as, while outside energy is also transferred into the body, it is done so at lower levels and in a non-invasive way as possible. This means that you are still able to use the practitioner's energy to help stabilize and balance you while at the same time only using the absolute minimum required. This ultimately results in a more profound and more robust sense of harmony and spiritual balance even after the first session.

One of Reiki's most enjoyable aspects that everyone comments on is the ability for the person to simply relax and be in the moment. Experiencing a Reiki session is not too dissimilar to getting a massage, except they are barely touching you and your clothes are still on. By taking those 15-30 minutes to relax, you can more effectively clear your mind and purge yourself of the stressors and frustrations you've subconsciously been holding on to throughout the days, weeks, or months since the last session. If you didn't know, our bodies are made up of a flow of energy that constantly circulates through various pathways and meridian channels. This means that not only are you getting a surge of mental clarity by the removal of the block but BECAUSE you removed the block, you no longer have a portion of your mind focusing on that.
As an example, say you have a stressed connection with car accidents. Going to a Reiki session and having that block removed, not only do you free up the trapped energy that was stuck there, but you no longer feel stressed about car accidents. You no longer are spending your thoughts focusing on the fear of a car accident!
This alone is why so many people note a feeling of "lightness" and "clear-mindedness" after having even only one session of Reiki.

After getting a Reiki session, your body is likely to feel very relaxed later that night, even if earlier you felt like you had bounds of energy stored.

As you do these things, even an increase in your metabolism and burning off excess body fat will begin happening.
Like many other forms of spiritual processes, Reiki is not meant to be done for the sake of doing it. Reiki is a tool for the express purpose of helping restore you to your natural state physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Reiki is not done by targeting any one thing in the body, but instead simply removing the blocks in the body itself, and allowing it to heal itself.
Reiki is a powerful tool in healing your body and restoring your spirit. And while this list is impressive, it is only the tip of the tip of the iceberg. Getting a session and removing these harmful blocks is a quintessential part of life that everyone should do to truly become a complete person.
